RI Training School Bedrooms
Bedrooms are personal spaces, especially while incarcerated. Students incarcerated at the RI Training School (RI's juvenile dentition facility) were always interested and excited to be photographed in their rooms. Students liked showing how they personalized these highly impersonal spaces. As always, every photograph taken as part of the AS220 Youth Photo program was a collaboration between my students and myself. While access to photographing these rooms was often restricted, it was always worth obtaining if only to share however temporarily the small spaces where students could relax and find privacy.
